Jassim Mi’raj is a Kuwaiti calligrapher, Mi’raj obtained a calligraphy license in (Althuluth) from Hassan Jalabi, his Turkish teacher. After understanding the rules and principles of the language, Mi’raj found himself passionate about the Arabic letters and their different illustration according to their position in the sentence; initial, middle, and end. He then evolved his philosophical, artistic identity that contemplates the letters ‘ symbolic, literal, expressive, and intellectual meanings. Through his works, Mi’raj endeavors to transform calligraphy from an illustration to a spiritual context. He tries to explore how a single letter can reveal a unique vision of the world.
